FRENCH TOAST
A dish originally from Rome that makes use of a thick loaf bread often soaked in eggs, milk or cream and is then pan fried. Other names include “eggy bread”, “Bombay toast”, “gypsy toast” and “poor knights”
INGREDIENTS:
● Loaf bread
● ½ cup milk
● 1 tsp cinnamon
● 3 drops vanilla extract
● 2 eggs
● 1 stick butter
PROCEDURE:
1) In a wide bowl plate, break 2 eggs, add half a cup of milk, a teaspoon of cinnamon and 3 drops of vanilla extract. Whisk these ingredients together.
2) Slice the loaf of bread into slices.
3) Dip the bread into the mixed wet ingredients, ensuring that you coat both sides. (You can also choose to soak the bread for 30 seconds on each side)
4) Butter a nonstick pan and place the bread on the pan. The heat should be very low. Once the first side is done, turn the other side of the bread and leave this to fry. Once the bread begins to brown all over, take it off heat.
5) Garnish with some grapes and enjoy!
